SAN ANTONIO, Tex. -- The Millsaps Lady Majors traveled to Texas this weekend to take on SCAC Western Division opponent Trinity University. The opening double header saw Trinity demonstrate their dominance as they defeated Millsaps in both Saturday contests. Millsaps fell by scores of 6-2 and 5-1, respectively.
In game one, Trinity scored six runs on the Lady Majors as Erica Douglas took her 14th loss of the season. After three innings of play, Trinity held a 3-0 lead over Millsaps. In the top of the fourth inning, Millsaps was able to get on the board. Josie Manley scored on an error in the third inning and Kacey Quinn scored on a Christina Sharp RBI single in the fifth.
These runs were not enough to pull ahead of the Lady Tigers. Trinity was able to add an additional run in the fourth and two more in the sixth to make the final score 6-2.
The second game of the day saw the Lady Majors season record fall to 8-17 as Trinity scored five runs in their victory. Millsaps was not able to put a run on the board until the sixth inning while Trinity began their offensive drive in the third inning, scoring three runs. The Lady Tigers added two more runs in the fifth and took the eventual 5-1 victory over Millsaps. |
