BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --
The homestanding Birmingham-Southern College Panthers waisted
little time claiming their third victory of the season on Wednesday
afternoon, seizing the doubles point for an early lead before
cruising to a 7-0 win.
The duo of Mauricio Engler/Matt Mabry downed the pair of Alex
Cummings/Russell Turley, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles while Richard
Walsh/Michael Locandro won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles and David Ray/J.C.
Freeman won 8-5 at the No. 3 slot. 
All six of the singles matches were decided in straight sets,
with Ray knocking off Cummings 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles and
Freeman defeating Trevor Harris 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
Junior transfer Murphey Parker [pictured] from Emory
University in Atlanta, Ga., put up the best fight for the Majors
at No.
3 singles,
falling to Walsh 6-1, 6-3.
BSC improved to 3-13 while Millsaps fell to 7-3.
Millsaps will head to Tyler, Texas, March 30-31 for its next three
matches, facing off with LeTourneau Univ., Austin
College
and
tournament host UT-Tyler.
