The Lady Majors improved their season record to 3-2 by defeating Centennial Athletic Conference member Ursinus College.
Anderson and Stewart, undefeated in DIII play, destroyed Root and Alspoch in the number one match 8-2 to set the team win in motion. Number two team of Cowgill and Sadler won 8-6 and had the Lady Majors leading 2-1 going into the doubles.
All-SCAC team member Katie Anderson remained undefeated , winning again at number one easily 6-0, 6-1 over Courtney Root. Emily Stewart and Beth Piraino secured the win with 6-0,6-0 and 6-0,6-1 victories, respectively.
The Lady Majors were leading 5-1 and with victory in hand decided to retire Beth Sadler's match to save energy for later in the afternoon. Senior Mia Cowgill lost 7-5,6-3 to Emily Malinaki at number five and Hillary Hamblen almost won in a third set tiebreak 10-8. |
