The Lady Majors were swept by the NCAA Tournament-bound Vassar College women’s team by a score of 9-0. The Vassar team boasts four ranked players in their lineup.

The doubles team of Anderson and Stewart had their worst outing to date. However, Anderson and Stewart still could have beaten the 4th ranked tandem of Debbie Sharnak and Katy Robinette.  Anderson and Stewart had so many opportunities were let go and it wasn’t by their opponents forcing, but rather having a sub par day and a sore back that kept Stewart out of the singles and for the rest of the day’s matches, too.  A ranking for Anderson and Stewart would surely have accompanied the victory, but this has been their only loss against DIII opponents so a ranking is still possible.  

Katie Anderson played a great singles match along with Beth Piraino. But Vassar proved too strong.  Emily Stewart took the rest of the singles matches off for the day to rest her back for the upcoming week. 

Beth Sadler moved up to the three spot and lost to regionally ranked Anna Will, while Mia Cowgill, Hillary Hamblen and Allisa Vincent all lost in valiant efforts. 

The Lady Majors fell to 4-4 on the season, but their play is improving and the experience against quality competition should prove very beneficial.
