Millsaps head volleyball coach
Jaime Burns has joined the staff of Southeast Missouri State University
after leading the Majors to memorable 2004 season.
Burns makes the jump to a Division 1 program
after leading the Majors to a 20-11 season with several upset wins
over some of the top teams in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference,
including a win against nationally ranked Southweatern University
in the Hangar Dome, after the Majors posted an 11-20 season in the
2003.
Burns, a Denver, Colorado native, played
at Ole Miss with SEMO head coach Renata Nowacki from 1999-2003.
As a student athlete Burns was a four-year starter at outside hitter
for Ole Miss from 1999-2003. Burns led the Rebels in kills and digs
during her junior and senior seasons. Her senior season she was
voted as team captain by her teammates. Burns was named to five
all-tournament teams in her career. She was also a Southeastern
Conference (SEC) All-Academic Team in seven of her eight semesters
at Ole Miss.
Under Burns' leadership two Majors, Ashley
Weber and Colleen Kelly, were named to the All-SCAC Team for their
play last season.
