Dedicated Trio’s
Final Farwell

After four years of dedication and hard work the Millsaps Majors Volleyball
Team will say goodbye to Liz Blanche, Jennifer Pujol and Ashley Weber.
All three seniors have made tremendous contributions to the team over
the past four years and will be missed both on and off the court next
year.
Liz Blanche became
a part of the Millsaps community after graduating from Episcopal High
School
in Baton Rouge, LA. At Episcopal Blanche earned
both first and second team all district honors, all star honors and two
coaches’ awards. At Millsaps Blanche has grown into one of the
strongest hitters for the Majors. Over the past four years Blanche has
totaled 567 kills, 220 digs and 23 solo blocks. This year alone Blanche
has tallied 199 kills and 11 solo blocks as well as 22 blocking assists.
After Millsaps Blanche plans to go to veterinary school.
Jennifer Pujol was
key to the Majors 2005 offense; she led the majors this year with 3.27
kills
per game. Pujol went to Covington High School
where she was a big hitter for them as well. In high school Pujol earned
both second and first team all district honors. At Millsaps Pujol excelled
in volleyball, over the past four years she has totaled 965 kills, 348
digs and 63 blocking solos. In her senior year alone she led the team’s
offense with a total 389 kills as well as the teams blocking with 47
solo blocks. In her final year Pujol made the third all SCAC team. As
a captain of the 2005 team Pujol’s leadership and determination
will be greatly missed next year. After graduation Pujol looks to go
into criminology.
Ashley Weber has
been a core part of Millsaps volleyball since her freshman year. As
a freshman
she made her mark with 417 digs and 223 kills. After
graduating from Isidore Newman High School where Weber received all-district
as well as all-state honors she came to Millsaps as an outside hitter.
Over the past four years Weber has led the Majors in both offense and
defense, over he college career she has totaled 1019 kills, 1867 digs
and 15 solo blocks. In her senior year alone she led the team’s
defense with 523 digs as well as playing a key part in the majors’ offense
with 284 kills. Weber was also named to the all SCAC third team. As a
captain of the 2005 team Weber’s intensity and leadership will
not only be hard to replace but it will be greatly missed next year.
After graduation in the spring Weber hopes to go into physical therapy
or health administration.
