What Do Chemists Do?

Most chemists are involved in either research and development, production or teaching. The number one employer of chemists in the chemical industry with 60% of the chemistry graduates. Almost 24% of chemistry graduates teach at either the high school or college level. Federal, state and local government agencies hire almost 10% of the chemistry graduates for work in areas such as medical, forensic, biochemical and environmental studies.
