Sasikala
Penumarthi is the preeminent teacher and choreographer of Kuchipudi
dance. Between dances, Ms. Penumarthi explained how this ancient
form of dance uses mudras, or gestures, each with unique significance,
to tell stories through movement.

Takkallapalli, a senior at St. Andrews Episcopal School, and Mangala
Maddali, a freshman at Clinton High School display their intricate
footwork in "Koluvaithiva Rangasayee"- part of "Daruvu"
a dance performed by temple dancers to wake up Lord Vishnu.
