Dr. Freis, on medical leave, teaches both Greek and Latin language and literature, with special interests in Greek philosophy, religious studies and comparative literature.  He has published articles on classical and modern literature and is widely published as a poet.  He has received the American Philological Association's Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Classics as well as the Millsaps College Distinguished Professor Award.
