Core Offices

The Core Office offers the following services to faculty:

  • Course Readers are developed. The Core Office publishes course readers in cooperation with the instructors. Copyright permissions are obtained, copies are edited and paginated, and tables of contents are developed. These course readers are printed and delivered to the bookstore for students to purchase.
  • Examination copies of textbooks for syllabus preparation are ordered from publishers and mailed directly to the instructor.
  • Desk copies are ordered and mailed to instructors and Ford Fellows.
  • Core 1 Book Orders for materials common to each section are ordered.
  • The Core Office assists the faculty editorial committee of Reflections, the publication containing the winners of the Frank and Rachel Ann Laney Award..
  • Reservations for rooms, films and equipment are made. The Core Office orders, reserves, copies and maintains a library of films appropriate for use in Core courses.
  • Slides are made, developed, labeled and delivered.
  • Faculty are reimbursed for expenses related to teaching of Core courses.
  • Xerox numbers are assigned to Core faculty.
  • Guidelines and models are provided to faculty for the development of new Core courses.

The Core Office will direct students to the appropriate faculty members for administrative solutions as needed to re-evaluate transcripts, to waive Core 1 or other Core courses, and to solve scheduling problems for Core classes.
