Biology
at Millsaps
The Biology Department seeks to provide students with a solid
foundation in the principles of biology, from the workings of a
cell to the interrelationships among organisms and the physical
environment. As part of this goal, the department prepares students
with the factual basis of the current understanding of the living
world and the skills to evaluate, question, and integrate new discoveries.
One aspect of this preparation is the opportunity to perform inquiry-driven
experiments through laboratory course work and undergraduate research
opportunities. Students may participate in undergraduate research
under the mentorship of biology faculty persons at Millsaps College,
or they may perform research in association with faculty persons
at the nearby University of Mississippi Medical Center under the
guidance of a member of the Millsaps Biology Department faculty.
