Josh Leonce Lands Mississippi Society of Georgia Scholarship

Josh Leonce Lands Mississippi Society of Georgia ScholarshipJosh Leonce, a 2017 graduate of Cambridge High School in Milton, GA and an incoming Millsaps first year student, received the 2017 Mississippi Society of Georgia (MSOG) scholarship. The MSOG presents this $1,000 scholarship annually to a Georgia high school graduate entering a Mississippi four-year college or university. Applicants are evaluated on scholarship, high school activities, leadership, and citizenship.

Leonce plans to study business administration and play basketball at Millsaps, joining other student-scholars who have chosen Millsaps as the place where they can pursue both career and athletic goals.

“The first thing that caught my eye about Josh is his academic prowess,” said Jimmy Smith, head men’s basketball coach. “Josh is an outstanding student, with a dynamic personality, so I knew he would be a great fit for both Millsaps and our basketball program. His versatility will allow him to play and defend multiple positions for the Majors.”

An all-volunteer, non-profit entity composed of alumni and friends of Mississippi’s higher education institutions, MSOG plays host to hundreds of Mississippians at their annual Mississippi Picnic in the Park held in Atlanta each June. Their mission is to promote the cultural, academic, business, and economic development opportunities and connections between Georgia and Mississippi. Millsaps Alumni and Parent Relations staff attend each year to reconnect with alums and represent the Majors. Millsaps is excited to welcome Josh to the class of 2021!
