Charles and Eloise Else left a remarkable gift to Millsaps College. In 1977, they endowed a scholarship fund for seniors and freshman with interest in business showing outstanding academic promise and achievement. When the MBA program was added, graduate students were included. In 1986 their generosity was recognized when the Else School of Management was dedicated. Since that time, hundreds of students as well as the Mississippi business community have benefitted from their gift.
While the only constant in business is change, Millsaps College and the Else School of Management have remained constant in their commitment to a high quality business education delivered by an exceptional faculty dedicated to student-centered learning and leadership development originally recognized and nurtured by Charles and Eloise Else. We want to continue to make this educational experience available to future business leaders. Help us celebrate the Else School’s 25th anniversary by helping raise $25,000 in the Else School Alumni Challenge! These new dollars will go to scholarships to benefit the next 25 years of Else School students.
To make this challenge more interesting, we are instituting a participation challenge. Encourage your classmates to give $25 or more to the Else School 25th anniversary challenge. The class with the most participants wins! Each participant in the winning class will receive a watercolor print of Murrah Hall painted by Dr. Jerry Whitt, the first dean of the Else School of Management. This is a wonderful opportunity to give a little that will mean a lot. The winning class will be announced at the 25th anniversary luncheon on October 26.
The competition kicks off now and runs through October 25. With everyone’s support, we will reach our goal!
For more information on the luncheon, or to give your gift online, please visit the Else School 25th Anniversary web page.
If you would like to make your donation by check, please make checks payable to Millsaps College and mail to:

Else School Center for Business & Culture in Yucatán gets Extreme Makeover
Opened in 2006, the Center for Business and Culture has served as the Else School’s base of operations for its Yucatan Programs for the past 5 years. However, one major need was an indoor classroom facility. (For anyone who hans not visited the Yucatan in May, the average high temperature is 105).
With a significant gift from Donna Ruth Roberts, we began construction on what would become our conference/classroom on the second floor of the Center. With additional donations from Howard and Mary Eliza McMillan and our first Else School Continuing Legal Education in the Yucatan attendees, the classroom was completed with custom-made furniture and TWO well functioning air-conditioners!
We completed the renovations with a terrace on the third floor over the classroom, added a ninth bedroom, bath, and a welcome plunge pool. After upgrading linens, this Center is now on par with upscale small hotels in the area and is ready for any small conferences or group vacations! For more information or to rent the facilities, contact Harvey Fiser, Associate Professor of Business Law at email@example.com or 601.842.9991.
