Studying Abroad

Learn, Experience, and Enjoy

Possibly the richest, most life-changing educational experience offered at Millsaps is the opportunity to travel and study internationally. By living and studying abroad, students build confidence and grow to understand cultures different from their own. Through international travel, students shift their cultural perspectives, create a context in which to better understand others, and learn why they think and act as they do — an essential skill in today's multicultural work force.

The Else School's European Program offers you an intense firsthand look at the global business environment through two three-week terms in Europe. Conducted each summer as an optional course of study, the program synthesizes the instruction of international business topics with practical field trips leading industries, businesses, and political institutions in Europe. Students will visit London, Munich, and Florence.

Our January intersession class allows students to study the development of an emerging modern economy in Central America, one layer at a time. Beginning at the Millsaps-supported biocultural reserve at Kaxil Kiuic, this program allows students to experience the most basic forms of economic activity. The students will move to Merida, the capital of Yucatan, to study the economic development of a modern industrial city. Finally, they will go to the Cancun area, where they will study the evolution of the tourist industry and its impact on the region.
