The confluence of academic affairs and student life can be enhanced by further development of the August academic advisement, class registration, new student orientation, and related programming, potentially resulting in improved student retention rates and student satisfaction measurements. This proposal recommends a deliberately planned expansion that necessitates the involvement of faculty, administrators, staff, students, and parents. Goals include: enhanced academic registration, expanded time for additional curricular and cocurricular presentations, and enhanced student transition from the Admissions officers to the Student Life team and Academic Advisors. Assessments and evaluations focus upon measuring student retention and student satisfaction as results of development. Potential issues for the development include funding, NCAA fall sports practice schedules, and perceived limits upon the numbers of students simultaneously engaged in academic registration.
