The proposed Center for Teaching and Learning at Millsaps would provide internal programming for faculty in teaching innovation and the process of learning. A faculty facilitator would host workshops and frame conversations in order to give faculty members opportunities to employ teaching innovation. In addition, a Center for Teaching and Learning would host outside experts to bring new teaching concepts to the faculty and to keep our faculty in dialogue with educators at peer and aspirant schools.
This programming would create an environment that celebrates faculty mentoring in teaching. It would also allow internal grant programs to provide faculty with incentives to revise their courses and incorporate new teaching and learning techniques. For example, this programming would provide technology and technology training for faculty to make productive use of cutting-edge teaching methods.
