Considering A Life of Leadership and Service
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about C.A.L.L.S.
What is C.A.L.L.S.?
C.A.L.L.S. is a group of spiritual companions. We are not all traveling at the same pace or with the same destination in mind, but we are traveling together. It is our desire to serve as spiritual companions to each other as we seek to draw closer to God and respond to God’s call.
Is C.A.L.L.S affiliated with any denomination?
C.A.L.L.S. is not non-denominational; rather, it is multi-denominational. We welcome denominational histories, experiences, and orientations as gifts to be received and shared with joy in our common life. We encourage you to continue your spiritual path in whatever denomination you choose and to help the rest of us learn what you find there.
What can I expect at C.A.L.L.S.?
- Lots of good food!
- Genuine welcome and a caring community.
- Mostly eating and talking.
- Prayer, discussion, and activities intended to provide an opportunity for you to deepen your spiritual life. We dabble in the deep waters of the contemplative tradition.
- Freedom to share deeply in a covenant of companionship and confidentiality.
- Lively discussion, interesting opinions, and theological perspectives you may not have encountered before. It may be on the edge, but it shouldn’t plunge you into the abyss.
Is C.A.L.L.S. a group for people who want to be ministers?
We are a group of people who want to deepen their spiritual lives and understand God’s call. Hopefully, that includes most people who are wrestling with a call to full-time Christian service; but don’t worry, no one will try to chain you to a pulpit. “All are called” means everybody.
