Students
receive Fund for Theological Education Undergraduate Fellowships
Three
students have been awarded nationally competitive Undergraduate Fellowships
through the Fund for Theological Education: Ellen Beilmann (Hattiesburg,
MS), Brad Corban (Tupelo, MS), and Eleanore Kelly (Mempis, TN). One student,
Nicole Christopher ('04) received a Graduate Fellowship to attend Candler
School of Theology at Emory University.
The Undergraduate Fellows program seeks to identify outstanding students
who possess "exceptional gifts for ministry" including ". . . imagination,
creativity, compassion, a capacity for critical thinking, leadership skills,
personal integrity, spiritual depth, dedication to a faith tradition,
and an ability to understand and to serve the needs of others." Fellows
received a stipend and attended an Excellence in Ministry conference in
California where they met top theologians and religious leaders and reflected
upon vocation with students from throughout the country.
All four students have been involved in the C.A.L.L.S.
(Considering a Life of Leadership and Service) program which seeks to
offer support and resources (emotional, financial, and spiritual) to students
who are thinking about a life of religious and/or theological leadership.
Previous Undergraduate Fellowship recipients are Kimberly Jones, Matt
Marston and Kenneth Townsend.
Sudanese

Mississippi. The booklet entitled The Long Journey: Sudanese Refugees
in Mississippi Tell Their Stories has been gaining attention. More
information about the project and copies of the booklet are available
for download
at the Millsaps College website or can be obtained by contacting the College.
The Fall
2003 Newsletter is available on-line and also in a printable
