Millsaps College and Social Media

Millsaps is embracing social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

We encourage all constituents of Millsaps to become a part of this exciting part of the Internet by joining us on these social media sites. What is social media? Joseph Thornley, CEO of Thornley Fallis, gives this definition:

Social media are online communications in which individuals shift fluidly and flexibly between the role of audience and author. To do this, they use social software that enables anyone without knowledge of coding, to post, comment on, share or mash up content and to form communities around shared interests.

In other words, social media sites like the ones listed above enable individuals and organizations to create an online presence that is part of a larger network, and allows them to communicate, share content, and much more instantly on the web. Find out more about Millsaps' Internet presence in the article, Website, Twitter, Facebook, blogs offer news about Millsaps in the Spring/Summer 2009 issue of the Millsaps Magazine.

Special Note: If you follow us on Twitter, please be sure to adjust your profile so you can receive text updates to your cell phone. We are using this tool to broadcast to constituents in the case of an emergency. Read more on how to do this here.

We welcome your feedback as we develop and experiment with these exciting new technologies and tools. Our goal is to communicate the College's messages in new avenues and to foster deeper (and easier) interaction between members of the Millsaps community - students, parents, prospective students/parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and the greater public. If you have content you would like to share with us, let us know! Email us at communications@millsaps.edu.
