Fae Franklin Hall

Fae Franklin Hall

Fae Franklin Hall was officially named in 1958 in honor of the late wife of Methodist Bishop Franklin roomMarvin A. Franklin. Franklin Hall is comprised of three floors and contains roughly 33,000 square feet of living space. Today, the residence hall is home to freshmen women.

Franklin Hall is located on the north side of campus, sheltered on one side by administrative buildings and lush vegetation. The convenient location provides quick access to both the Physical Activities Center, which houses the campus gym, and the Campbell College Center, the location of the cafeteria and campus coffeeshop. Residents also enjoy ample parking in an adjacent lot. Franklin loungeThe azalea-lined path to Franklin Hall leads students to the facility's pleasant terra-cotta porch, which offers comfortable seating shaded by flowering crepe myrtles.

The graceful lounge on the ground floor, which features high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, is often used for gatherings and to entertain friends. The lounge area is furnished like a living room, complete with mauve carpeting, armchairs, sofas, a meeting table, a piano, and a large screen television set. The building is equipped with soda, fruit juice, and snack machines, and Franklin roomhas bathrooms on each floor and a downstairs laundry facility. Residents of Franklin also enjoy ample storage space in each room. Although the building does not have an elevator, a wheelchair lift is available for individuals with physicial disabilities.

Students reside in traditional double rooms with creamy beige and wood walls and tiled floors in neutral colors. All rooms have phone jacks with voice mail capabilities, caller identification, and call waiting. Rooms in Franklin Hall also offer two internet hook ups and basic furniture: a desk, chair, dresser, and bed for each occupant as well as a double closet. Since the rooms themselves are not carpeted, freshmen are encouraged to bring their own area rugs.
