Galloway Hall

Galloway Hall, built in 1966, was named after Methodist Bishop
and college founder Charles Betts Galloway, who died in 1909. The facility
is three floors, co-ed by floor, and comprises more than 32,000 square feet
of living space.
Galloway is convenient to the Academic Complex
and Murrah Hall, two of the major academic buildings on campus, and is in
the immediate vicinity of other upperclassmen residencies. The residence
hall rests near a park-like grassy area featuring benches, picnic tables,
and mature trees, where students congregate to study or socialize in nice
weather. The sidewalks around Galloway Hall are shaded by magnolias and
hardwoods, and the facility also borders a basketball court. Parking is
conveniently located directly behind the building.
Galloway is uniquely styled into cubes, each containing eight
rooms and a bathroom. All of Galloway shares a large laundry room, situated
on the bottom floor with an accompanying lobby, complete with couches and
a television. Galloway rooms are divided into two sections by a closet,
with desks and dressers on one side and beds on the other. All rooms have
phone jacks with voice mail capabilities, caller identification, and call
waiting. Each room also comes equipped with two internet hook ups. Galloway
also features newspaper kiosks so that students can stay informed about
local and national events.
