A Legacy Without Borders
Millsaps prides itself on graduating leaders who are committed to and capable of changing the world, and senior Katie Beth Miksa is no exception. From December 2006 until June 2007, Katie Beth will study at the Taipei Language Institute-Kaohsiung Center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, working with local Rotary Clubs in Kaohsiung on community service projects. Katie Beth plans to use her experience to prepare for graduate studies in international relations.
“I once read that it is a dangerous business, going out your front door; you never know where the road may take you,” Katie Beth says. “Living in the unfamiliar, engaging in service with persons unknown—these are the experiences that shape us, that captivate us, that help us to escape our own conventions and gain a broader perspective. Millsaps has given me the opportunity to pass through my own front door, and I gratefully
welcome the new adventures that await me on the other side.”
The Campaign’s emphasis on International Studies will ensure that all Millsaps’ students have the opportunity to step beyond their front doors and into new adventures. |
