Rust College

Rust College is an accredited four-year coeducational liberal arts institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church. It was founded in 1866 by the Freedman's Aid Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church on former slave auction grounds to educate newly freed slaves.  Today the historically black college of about 900 students is fully accredited and offers degrees in 21 curricular areas.  It is the oldest college in Mississippi related to the United Methodist Church and its ownership is vested in the Board of Education of the United Methodist Church.  Although not an agency or institution of the Mississippi Conference, seventeen members of the College Board of Trustees provide leadership and support from the Mississippi Conference.The College is located north of Holly Springs, Mississippi,  20 miles south of the Tennessee/Mississippi border.
