High-achieving Mississippi students have a new opportunity to fund their college education through a program that recognizes top students in the state and encourages them to remain in Mississippi for their higher education. Millsaps College has developed the Major Minds of Mississippi Scholarship Program exclusively for Mississippi students entering college in Fall 2013.

Eligible students will be awarded a minimum of $22,000 per year in scholarship funds, an amount equivalent to more than two-thirds of the cost of 2013-14 tuition and fees. Any admitted student to Millsaps College is eligible for the scholarship program if he/she:
"We want to put a Millsaps education within reach of all the top students in our great state," said David J. Wottle, interim vice president of enrollment. "Our Major Minds of Mississippi Scholarship Program is our effort to do just that." Wottle noted that colleges such as Millsaps are appreciated for high graduation rates that enable graduates to enter the workforce and become wage earners in a timely manner. With a college-wide honors approach and a curriculum that focuses on outcomes, Millsaps helps students develop critical skills that make them highly sought by employers and adaptable in an ever-changing marketplace, Wottle said.

Students who apply for admission and complete an application file by December 1 for Early Action or February 1 for Regular Decision will automatically be considered for the scholarship program.
