This year's Commencement activities will take place Friday and Saturday, May 11-12, 2012. The Commencement Ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the Millsaps Bowl.
Commencement Rehearsal for ALL degree candidates (undergraduate and graduate) begins at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, in the Leggett Center (main floor of College Center). ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE PRESENT AT THIS REHEARSAL. Associate Professor Harvey Fiser is head marshal.
Graduation begins at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 12, and is traditionally held in the Bowl, the outdoor area adjacent to the A. Boyd Campbell College Center.
Degree candidates will meet in the atrium of the Academic Complex by 8:45 a.m. Academic dress (cap and gown) is required.
During commencement, campus safety staff will be at all entrances of the campus to assist with parking. Chairs will be provided, but it is also permissible to bring lawn chairs, which can be placed in the few shady areas around the Bowl. Some families with small children like to bring a quilt so they can move away from the crowd and give the children a little more freedom.
We suggest that you dress for warm weather! The Commencement ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. and will last about two hours. Coffee, soft drinks, and water will be available for purchase at the Kava House and the college bookstore, located on the basement level of the A. Boyd Campbell College Center. Restrooms are available in Sullivan-Harrell Hall and the A. Boyd Campbell College Center. Family will not be allowed in the Academic Complex, where graduates robe and line up prior to the ceremony.
The Millsaps College Bookstore is your "one-stop shop" for graduation needs. We carry order forms for graduation announcements, official Millsaps diploma frames, and numerous gift items for your graduate. Please contact the bookstore at 601-974-1230 with any questions or concerns.
