Jack Lucas “Indestructible”
7:30 p.m.
Ford Academic Complex Recital Hall
In a world filled with talk of “superheroes,” here is the real thing: a true American hero. Jack Lucas’ story is one of astounding self-sacrificing bravery and just plain old guts. Not only did he lie about his age to join the Marines (he was 14), he went AWOL after his true age was discovered in order to join the action in the Pacific. At Iwo Jima, two grenades landed in the midst of Lucas and three other Marines. Private Lucas jumped on both grenades. His buddies were saved, and he miraculously barely survived. For this act of bravery, 17-year-old Jack Lucas became the youngest soldier in the twentieth century and the youngest Marine in history to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor. Don’t miss this!
General admission $10 / non-Millsaps students $5, group rates available

What We're Reading

read just might be. In this panel hosted by Paula Garrett, Millsaps professors
talk about what they read for pleasure. More importantly, these professors discuss
