| Millsaps Named a
“Best Buy” in 2001 Fiske Guide Edward B. Fiske, former education editor for the New York Times and author of The Fiske Guide to Colleges, has released his annual list of “Best Buy” colleges and universities for 2001. Millsaps is one of only 21 private institutions in the nation named to the list. Millsaps has been selected for the guide every year since its inception in 1982. No other Mississippi institution has ever been included in the guide. The Fiske Guide to Colleges praises the qualities that make Millsaps an excellent investment: the sense of community among the students and between the students and the faculty; the quality of the professors both in the classroom and in the academic world; and the presence of Southern tradition coupled with a comprehensive consideration of the entire Western world. The guide also praises Millsaps' Heritage program, Honor Code, and recent campus construction projects.
