Becky Baugh (col. receptionist), Johanna Bettis (research), Nicole Bradshaw (inst. adv.), and Margarita Schmidt (inst. adv.) ran the Mardi Gras Half Marathon in New Orleans. Lyn Fulton-John (internat. init.) was an invited speaker to the Mississippi NAFSA meeting in Hattiesburg. She presented a two-hour workshop in international recruitment. Kathi Griffin (writ. cntr.) took part in two sessions at the National Council of Teachers of English national convention in Milwaukee. She gave a paper, Diversity and Discourse: Using a Sociocultural Approach with College Freshmen and participated in a panel entitled Practice Makes Knowledge: Interdisciplinary Writing on a Small College Campus. Janet Johnson (act. cntr.) competed with approximately 30,000 runners in the New York City Marathon. Her finish of 4:20:34 placed her in the top 54% of all finishers and in the top 35% of all female finishers. Janice Jordan (writ. cntr.) taught an Enrichment class in Middle Eastern Dance (belly dancing). Andrea Miller Pound and Jennifer Casey (stud. aff.) presented a program for the Mississippi Association of Housing Officers at their annual meeting in Biloxi. The program was entitled Whyd you move my Cheese? It was about change in the workplace and how to deal with it. They won The Most Creative Program Award. Pound also was a facilitator for the Florida State University Greek Advance program for Greek leaders in Panama City Beach, Fla. Sandy Rhymes (stud. aff.) won the Outstanding Service Award at the annual Mississippi Association of Housing Officers Conference.
