Visiting the campus allows prospective students the opportunity to explore Millsaps academic programs and learn about the wide range of student services and campus activities we offer. Students will be invited to attend classes, tour campus, speak with faculty, enjoy lunch in the cafeteria and hear more about the scholarship and financial aid application process. This particular on-campus senior visit opportunity also allows students focused on athletics to talk with coaches and team members.

In the two decades since British writer and wit Christopher Hitchens arrived in the “former colonies,” he has emerged as a singularly insightful, provocative, and impossible-to-ignore critic of American politics and culture. His regular columns for Vanity Fair stand out for their clarity of thought and prose, and his television appearances are legendary. He is the author of more than 10 books, including Letters to a Young Contrarian, Why Orwell Matters, and his most recent, A Long Short War: The Postponed Liberation of Iraq.

The American Astronaut
follows the adventures of interplanetary trader Samual Curtis through his Homeric intergalactic journey to provide the all-female population of Venus with a suitable singular male. Throughout his journey, he is pursued by the cold-blooded and childish killer, Professor Hess, an enigmatic figure from his past. This space western musical uses flinty black-and-white photography, rugged Lo-Fi sets and the spirit of the final frontier to bring Curtis’ story, set in the dirty, isolated vastness of outer space, to life. The film features an original soundtrack by The Billy Nayer Show.

The Horizons program allows senior high school students interested in attending Millsaps to visit the College for a full day. After registration and a campus tour, the students sit in on classes, eat lunch with current Millsaps students and learn more about student services and academic programs on campus.

The setting for this memorable musical is Anatevka, a small peasant town in Czarist Russia. Tevye the dairyman, his wife Golda, and their five daughters are a hard-working Jewish family, living as their forefathers did, observing the ways handed down to them, and following the dictates of tradition. Tevye, a pious man, tries to raise his five daughters according to the ways of the Good Book. However, the old ways no longer suffice, and Tevye and his friends have to become part of the changing world around them.

Host and co-writer of the award winning adventure-travel series Lonely Planet since its inception in 1994, Justine Shapiro has traveled onto and off the beaten path of nearly 40 countries. Her new series, known as “Globe Trekker,” is broadcast in more than 30 countries worldwide. Justine is an expert in explaining the art and zen of global travel, and her presentation includes outtakes, bloopers, and mishaps from her televised adventures.

Join us for the American College Theatre Festival, which will feature approximately 10 full-length mainstage shows! Millsaps students are planning on entering an original work in this year's festival. LIE, written by Millsaps junior Mike Padilla, will be directed by recent Millsaps graduate Sam Sparks.

This concert is titled "20th Century A Cappella." Works by David Foltz, longtime conductor at the University of Southern Mississippi, R. Vaughan William, Australian composers Sarah Hopkins and Stephen Leeks, and Daniel Gawthrop will be performed. These works exploit different tonal aspects of the a cappella chorus.

This forum will feature Robert Taub, celebrated concert pianist.
An internationally acclaimed leader in the new generation of virtuoso pianists, Robert Taub has performed with many of the world’s major orchestras: the Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and the philharmonics of Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and the BBC. His venues, including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, are some of the most prestigious nationwide. Taub records with VOX and Harmonia Mundi. His complete recordings of Beethoven’s 32 sonatas are at the forefront in the piano world. Taub was the first musician serving as Artist-in-Residence at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton University, following T. S. Elliot.
