The Millsaps College Women’s Lacrosse Team will host the team’s first-ever home games on Saturday, April 5 against the University of South Florida and Tulane University. It is free and open to the public.
In its second season in the Southeastern Women’s Lacrosse League the Millsaps team is 2 and 4. The team is also scheduled to play the University of Alabama and Kennesaw State during the 2008 season.
The first game will begin at 10 a.m. with Millsaps, partnered with Louisiana State University, playing USF, followed by USF and Tulane at 12:30 p.m. and Millsaps and Tulane at 2 p.m. All games will be played on the soccer field.
The women’s lacrosse team at Millsaps was founded in the spring of 2005 by then freshman and current senior and team captain Jessica Samson. In the fall of 2006 the team joined the Southeastern Women’s Lacrosse League.
“Lacrosse is like a combination of football, soccer and basketball,” Samson said. “I wanted to start the team because I missed playing it and thought it would be a great addition to women’s athletics at Millsaps.”
