Dr. Harriet Pollack, associate professor of English at Bucknell University, will speak about Eudora Welty’s photographic representations of African-American women on Wednesday, April 9. Free and open to the public, Pollack’s talk will take place in Room 200 of Millsaps College’s Murrah Hall at noon. For more information, contact Dr. Suzanne Marrs at 601-974-1303 or marrss@millsaps.edu.
Pollack’s talk, entitled In Black and White: Eudora Welty’s Photography, considers Welty’s photographic representations of African-American women in the context of their history in photography. The comparison suggests how Welty’s images are of her own time and yet are also innovative, presenting the audience with new ways of seeing.
