Millsaps College Names Hall of Fame

From left: Millsaps seniors John Kellogg of Shreveport, La., Jacqueline Coale of Biloxi, Chelsi West of Jackson and Ryan Zagone of Baton Rouge, La., were inducted into the 2007-2008 Millsaps Hall of Fame during an April 23 awards ceremony in the Fountain Plaza on campus.

Four Millsaps College seniors have earned entry into the college’s Hall of Fame, the highest honor for a graduating senior by the Division of Student Affairs and the Student Body Association, for high scholastic standing, exceptional leadership, superior service and outstanding involvement in campus life.

Jacqueline Coale of Biloxi, John Kellogg of Shreveport, La., Chelsi West of Jackson and Ryan Zagone of Baton Rouge, La., were inducted into the 2007-2008 Millsaps Hall of Fame during an April 23 awards ceremony in the Fountain Plaza on campus.

“The Hall of Fame at Millsaps College is a grand tradition,” said Brit Katz, vice president and dean of students. “These four remarkable honorees are an example to future students to seek the highest standards of leadership, involvement, service and scholarship.”

Jacqueline Coale, daughter of Toni and Gregory Coale, is a music major with a concentration in vocal performance. During her time at Millsaps, Coale has been active with The Millsaps Singers and The Chamber Singers. She is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Order of Omega Greek and Sigma Lambda Service leadership honoraries, Mu Phi Epsilon International music fraternity and Alpha Psi Omega theatre honorary. A talented performer, Coale is a state competition winner for vocal operatic performance and received “The Millsaps Player Best Supporting Actress Award.” She is a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and a three time member of the Millsaps Homecoming Court.

John Kellogg, son of Martha Wainwright and John H. Kellogg, is an honors graduate in psychology with minors in business and Faith & Work and a human services concentration. A McNair International Scholarship recipient, he is president of both Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honorary and the Canterbury Club. Active on both campus and in the community, Kellogg is a student leader for One Campus, One Community, a Ford Teaching Fellow, a Lilly Fellow, and works with the Faith & Work Initiative. He is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Chelsi West, daughter of Janice and Gerald West, is an honors graduate in anthropology with a minor in Faith & Work. An active student leader, West has served as a student leader for One Campus, One Community, president of the Black Student Association, secretary of the Student Body Association and chair of the Campus Ministry Team, Midtown Community Partnership Taskgroup. Other honors include being a member of the Senior Year Experience Steering Committee, a Ford Teaching Fellow, Homecoming Queen 2007 and Omicron Delta Kappa Freshman Woman of the Year.

Ryan Zagone, son of Heidi and Jeff Zagone, is an honors graduate in economics and business major. He has served as treasurer of the Student Body Association, president of the Interfraternity Council and president of Sigma Leadership Lambda service leadership honorary. He is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honorary, Senior Year Experience Steering Committee and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He is also a regional manager for the business office.
