This weekend students at Millsaps College will host the second annual Shack-a-Thon to raise awareness of homelessness and money for Stewpot Ministries of Jackson.
During the 24-hour event, which lasts from 4 p.m. on Friday to 4 p.m. on Saturday, teams create make-shift homes out of cardboard boxes in the Bowl.
“We have to start somewhere with issues like homelessness,” said Millsaps junior Edgar Meyer who is organizing the event.
“The longer we sit and ponder about the problems of the world, the more time we lose that could be devoted to actually combating those problems.”
The fee is $30 per team and all proceeds will go to Stewpot Ministries. To participate in Millsap’s Shack-a-Thon contact Edgar Meyer at meyerer@millsaps.edu.
