Millsaps College will host the annual Mississippi Collegiate Art Competition exhibition February 20–March 19 in the Lewis Art Gallery.
On display will be 100 works of art from Mississippi colleges and universities from throughout the state. Juror Michael Crespo, professor of painting at Louisiana State University, selected the work to display from 633 entries.
The Mississippi Collegiate Art Competition is a yearly competition for college and university students in the state. A different college or university hosts the competition each year. Participating institutions include Delta State University, William Carey College, Mississippi University for Women, the University of Southern Mississippi, Mississippi College, the University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University.
Crespo will select the winning entries in person. He will select Best in Show and give three awards for excellent and as many as 10 Juror's Awards that designate superior achievement in a particular medium.
An awards ceremony is scheduled February 21 from 2–4 p.m. in the Lewis Art Gallery, which is located in the Ford Academic Complex. Crespo plans to attend the ceremony to participate in presentation of the awards.
The Gallery is open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday–Friday. It is located on the third floor of the Academic Complex.
