Millsaps College staff member Jeanne Bodron, coordinator of user services for the Information Technology Services department, was honored with the Patriot Award by The Mississippi Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, an agency of the Department of Defense.
The award is in recognition of her support of fellow staff member Derrick Hicks, a member of the Mississippi National Guard and Reserve, who has served in two tours of Iraq.
Hicks, user support and training analyst in the ITS department, said in his nomination letter to the Department of Defense that Bodron had, “been supportive of my military deployment from second one.”
“Millsaps has been very patient and continues to support my every military endeavor with time off and massive amounts of reintegration training,” Hicks said.
Bodron was awarded a certificate and a pin by representatives of the Mississippi branch of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Derwood Boyles ESGR Mississippi Chair. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s National Guard and Reserve units.”
