The
[Jackson] Clarion-Ledger devoted most of the front of
its "Perspective" section on Sunday, May 28, 2006,
to local efforts to aid refugees
from the Sudan who migrated to Mississippi. Much of this
coverage focused on the Millsaps-Sudan connection; one article,
by columnist Sid Salter, described the ongoing
efforts (under
the leadership of Millsaps English Professor Dr. Greg Miller)
to help these immigrants. Another piece by recent Millsaps graduate
and Sudanese "lost boy" Deng Mabil describes
his reflections on his long journey from despair
to hope.
