Goff receives national honor

(July 31, 2002)

Misty Goff of Gulfport, Miss., was recently awarded the Founders' Scholarship and the Stegall Leadership Award from the national chapter of Kappa Delta sorority.

Competition for both awards is keen. Only four undergraduate Founders' Scholarships are awarded each year. These scholarships are given in recognition of academic excellence and service to chapter and college. The Stegall Leadership Award is the highest collegiate honor the national organization can bestow. This award is given to only 15 Kappa Deltas annually, and winners are chosen on the basis of high scholastic achievement and outstanding leadership both on campus and within their respective chapter.

Goff, a rising senior majoring in biology, is a member of the Order of Omega, Beta Beta Beta (a biology honorary), Phi Eta Sigma (a freshmen scholarship honorary) and the Wesley Fellowship Leadership Team. She serves as president of the Millsaps chapter of Kappa Delta sorority and as a youth counselor for Galloway United Methodist Church. Goff has previously been awarded the Kappa Delta Gracious Living Award and the Kappa Delta Muriel Johnstone Undergraduate Scholarship.

Goff is the daughter of Tammy Goff of Gulfport. After graduation, she plans to attend dental school.
