Twenty-one
graduating seniors recently joined the elite Phi Beta Kappa society at
Millsaps College. The nation's oldest academic honorary, Phi Beta Kappa
recognizes excellence in the liberal arts and encourages broad cultural
interests, scholarly achievement and good character.
This
year marks the fourteenth anniversary of the establishment of the Millsaps
Phi Beta Kappa chapter. The Mississippi Alpha Chapter, one of only two
Phi Beta Kappa chapters in the state, was established in 1989 after a
rigorous three-year selection process. Since the inception of its chapter,
Millsaps has initiated almost 300 Phi Beta Kappa scholars.
New members
include Larry Brouillette, McCall Bryant, Robert Caskey, Judith Coleman,
Emily Daly, William Darcey III, Kristy Goff, Misty Goff, James Goode,
Rose Hurder, Jessica Ingram, Ned Jabour III, Kimberley Jones, Ann Long,
Elizabeth Lutz, Jessica Malpass, Valerie Paasch, Hannah Page, Margaret
Purifoy, Aldan Shank and Julie Strickland.
Through
the Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholars program, Millsaps also hosts annual
