Millsaps Announces 2006 Fall Forum Featured Speaker

The Millsaps College Else School of Management is pleased to present Mark Olson, Chairman of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, as the featured speaker for the 2006 Fall Forum, sponsored by The Clarion Ledger and Horne LLP. The forum will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2006.

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) is a private-sector, non-profit corporation created by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 to oversee the auditors of public companies in order to protect the interests of investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, fair, and independent audit reports.  “We are very fortunate to have a speaker of Mr. Olson’s caliber for our Fall Forum,” said Howard McMillan, dean of the Else School.  “His knowledge of financial reporting and the economy are particularly insightful.”

Mark W. Olson became Chairman of the PCAOB on July 3, 2006.  Prior to his appointment to the Board, Mr. Olson served as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and the Federal Open Market Committee since December 2001.  He served as administrative governor of the Federal Reserve Board beginning in August 2002.  He also served as chairman of the Board’s Committee on Consumer and Community Affairs in addition to serving on the Committee on Supervisory and Regulatory Affairs and the Committee on Federal Reserve Bank Affairs.  Mr. Olson was also the Federal Reserve representative on the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, which was created by the Congress to assist in revitalization of urban residential neighborhoods.

“Horne is proud to help sponsor the Else School’s 2006 Fall Forum” said Horne LLP Executive Partner Hugh J. Parker, Ph.D., CPA/ABV.  “We are committed to strong relationships such as the one formed between Horne and the Else School of Management.  The 2006 Fall Forum is another example of Horne’s dedication to the communities that we live in and serve.”

The Forum will be held in the Leggett Special Events Center on the Millsaps College campus.  Breakfast will be served beginning at 8:00 a.m., with the program beginning at 8:45 a.m.  Tickets are $15 per person.  Seating is limited.  For reservations or more information, contact Martha Lee at 601-974-1250.
