On Tuesday, Dec. 4, the Millsaps Singers and the Millsaps Campus Ministry Team will lead the college community in a traditional Advent service. The service, which will take place at noon in the Ford Academic Complex Recital Hall, is free and open to the public. Reservations are not necessary, but if you plan to bring a group or need more information, please contact Kay Barksdale, director of church and parent relations, at 601-974-1483 or barkskb@millsaps.edu.
The service is built around the Service of Lessons and Carols from St. John’s College in Cambridge, England, and includes Christmas hymns and anthems as well as readings proclaiming the birth of Christ. The audience, surrounded by the Singers, will light candles to mark the close of the service with the traditional favorite “Silent Night.”
Held near the first Sunday in Advent, this beautiful service is one of the high points of worship on the Millsaps campus and marks the beginning of the Christmas season for the Millsaps family.
