"Seentences" to Open at Millsaps

(10/17/07)

The Lewis Art Gallery at Millsaps College will host a month-long exhibit entitled “Seentences” beginning Monday, October 29. The solo exhibition by Greely Myatt, will display visual sentences and issues of seeing through sculpture. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Contact Sandra Murchison at 601-974-1431 or smiths@millsaps.edu for more information.

Myatt has served as professor of art at the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tenn., since 1999 and has been presenting solo exhibitions since 1985.  Prior to “Seentences,” Myatt’s exhibition entitled “Lapses to Kill” was displayed in the David Lusk Gallery during the summer of 2006.  DLG features art of the southern region and is located in Memphis. Myatt has described his work as “unusual or absurd or poignant or poetic or funny” as he focuses on objects with a previous history and attempts to combine them in a whimsical way.

“Seentences” will run through Friday, November 30.
