James Moritsugu

James Moritsugu is in his seventh season as Principal Clarinet with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he serves as Adjunct Instructor of Clarinet at both Millsaps College and Mississippi College. Prior to coming to Jackson, he held the position of Principal Clarinet with the Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale in Texas. Other positions have included Principal Clarinet with the Kenosha Symphony in Wisconsin, and 2nd Clarinet with both the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and the South Bend Symphony Orchestra in Indiana, and 3rd Clarinet & Bass Clarinet with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra in Florida. Mr. Moritsugu’s early studies were at the Juilliard School of Music, Eastman School of Music, and Northwestern University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Music Performance from the University of Texas at Austin.
