PLATONOVICH TRAVINSKYY is
a 23 year old graduate student at the University of North Texas. He attended the
National Academy of Music of the Ukraine before coming the the U.S. Travinskyy
won the Gold Medal at the Wideman with a stunning performance of the Sergei Prokofiev's
Concerto No. 1. Read the article on his victory in The

BIO: Born
in Ukraine in the year 1981, Konstantyn Travinskyy began exhibiting his natural
and exceptional musicality at the early age of 5. During this time Mr. Travinskyy
was living in the North Caucus with his grandparents. Realizing Mr. Travinskyy's
great potential and precocious musical abilities, he was immediately enrolled
in lessons with Natalia Zajtseva. By age 8 he participated in his first competition
in Kiev where he won 3rd prize at the 5th City Festival of Children's Music. Residing
in Kiev for the next 13 years, Mr. Travinskyy continued his studies with Professor
Tatiana Chalaya, Professor Olga Sherstyk, and Professor Boris Fedorov. In
1999 Mr. Travinskyy graduated from the Special Music School named after M. Lysenko
and was accepted to the Ukrainian National Academy of Music. While pursuing a
master's degree in piano performance with Professor Boris Fedorov, Mr. Travinskyy
received an invitation to continue his artistic career under the tutelage of Van
Cliburn gold medalist (1973) and Artist-In Residence at the University of North
Texas, Vladimir Viardo. In the fall of
2003, shortly after his arrival in the United States, Mr. Travinskyy began participating
in his first international competitions held in this country. Within two weeks
Travinskyy won 1st prize at the Crescendo Music Competition in Tulsa, Oklahoma;
2nd prize at the Kingsville Concerto Competition, and 1st prize at the Texas Music
Teachers' Association Concerto Competition. As recent 1st prizewinner of the Wideman
Piano Competition 2004, Mr. Travinskyy is pleased to be sharing his passion for
music with audiences in Louisiana, Mississippi, Washington D.C. and in a performance
in Chicago which will be broadcasted nationwide on WFMT classical radio station.
Mr. Travinskyy is becoming well known for his
Liszt interpretations and has enlightened many listeners at his performances in
the United States, Greece, Italy, Russia, and Ukraine. Other prizes include: 4th
place at the Valsesia-Musica International Piano Competition 2004 in Varallo,
Italy, Finalist of the V International Competition 2004 for Young Pianists in
memory of Vladimir Horowitz (Kiev, Ukraine), Grand prize and Overall Winner at
2nd International Music Competition for Young Pianists 2001 "Valsessia Musica"
(Scopello,Italy), 1st prize at the International Competition "Art of the
XXI Century"2000 (Vorzel, Ukraine),1st prize at 4th International Piano Competition
for Young Pianists "Konzerteum" 1998 (Greece), and 3rd prize at 1st
International Music Festival after Paderevski, (Glybchitsa, Poland). Wideman
