A. Kurt Thaw
A. Kurt Thaw received
his bachelors degree in Psychology from Georgia Southern University.
He then completed his masters degree and Ph.D. at Florida State
University graduating with a degree in Psycho-Biology/Neuroscience
in 1994. Dr. Thaw received postdoctoral fellowships at the University
of Virginia where he examined the neurophysiological and behavioral
development of the taste system, and from Cornell Medical School
where he studied the central and peripheral regulation of feeding
behavior at the Bourne Behavioral research laboratory. Currently,
Dr. Thaw is examing the role of immune-related factors in the
control of appetite on rats. His research focuses on factors that
are naturally released by the body after a meal to signal the
brain to stop eating.
Dr Thaw is a member
of the Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior (SSIB), the
Association of Chemoreception Sciences (AChemS), and the Society
for Neuroscience (SFN).
