| Romance Writers Heat Up Campus On a steamy May 15, Millsaps hosted the Magnolia State Romance Writers Conference, whose theme was Writing For, By, and About Women: Teaching and Learning the Craft. The conference featured workshops and seminars on the marketing and preparation of manuscripts, the craft of writing, and the study of women in literature. Teresa Arrington, Assistant Professor of Spanish, coordinated of the conference and presented Hot and Spicy: Eroticism and Food in the Writings of Isabel Allende, Fanny Buitrago, and Laura Esquivel. She is Vice President of the Mississippi chapter of Romance Writers of America. Other speakers and guests included Victoria Dark, author of Marrying Mattie, Charles Wilson, author of Embryo, and Dr. Norma Jenckes, editor of American Drama. The conference included a book fair, and literary agents met with participants. |
