Majors Play in Europe

Suiting up against two of the best teams in the Football League of Europe, Millsaps lost to the Vienna (Austria) Vikings 40-28, but beat the Russelsheim (Germany) Razorbacks 31-30 during their May 26- June 7 European trip.

The trip, which the football team paid for through fundraising events, included many off-the-field events. In a special cere-mony, the Mayor of Russelsheim presented President Harmon with a key to the city. The 30 students visited Vienna, Austria, and Heidelberg, Weisbaden, and Frankfurt, Germany.

They also took educational sightseeing trips, including an Opal car plant tour, a Rhein River cruise, and a somber visit to the Buchenwald concentration camp.

“This is the type of experience that few schools can offer,” says head football coach Ron Jurney. “It is something that our student-athletes will remember for the rest of their lives.”
