Millsaps received three first-place awards in the senior division at the 1999 College Public Relations Association of Mississippi conference and competition.

Jon Parrish Peede received First Place Feature Story for “Hollywood Comes to Mississippi,” a Millsaps Magazine feature on Ward Emling and the Mississippi Film Office. First Place News Story went to Christina Finzel for “Millsaps Program Offers a ‘Hands-On’ Approach to Science,” on the Science Teachers’ Institute, published in the Clarion-Ledger and Millsaps Magazine. Jon Parrish Peede and Bryant Butler won First Place Admissions and Recruitment Piece award for the recruitment piece, “You Count.”
