The last Millsaps Magazine attracted more than 40 letters and emails of appreciation and countless phone calls full of encouragement and ideas for future profiles. Such an outpouring of support is rare at any institution and with any publication, and we thank you for your kindness and for entrusting us with your cherished stories.

Your Great Book Hunt had an auspicious beginning. The moment that I completed reading “Inside Choctaw Books” I telephoned a friend of mine who loves books and deplores the fact that only one independent bookstore exists in this rich city of Silicon valley. I read her the entire piece without interruption; then I treated her with [Ellen Gilchrist’s] “A Piece of News”. Thanks for the good news from home.

Congratulations! I haven’t enjoyed an issue of the alumni mag so much in years. This issue, with its emphasis on the literary side of Millsaps, was a welcome sight. I especially enjoyed the two- page spread dedicated to authors with a connection to the school – don’t remember seeing such a feature before. Perhaps it could become a regular addition to the magazine? I look forward to future “theme” issues – God knows there are scads of history folk out there doing their work because of Drs. Moore, Laney, Sallis, and others, and quite a group of musicians – church, classical, pop, rock, etc. – who would be worth profiling. My own work leads me to believe that Millsaps-connected educators would also be worth the ink and glossy paper.

I have devoured the magazine and found it so pleasing, both with content and layout, that I passed it on. Thanks for packing
it so full of interesting people.

Congratulations on the spring- summer issue of Millsaps Maga- zine. It is most impressive – a feast for the eyes and mind.
I can’t wait to see what you’ll do for an encore!

My daughter had already decided to attend Millsaps College before I ever saw your magazine. I brought her to school last week and took home two issues of your magazine. After reading the magazines I am particularly pleased with her choice to attend Millsaps. The magazine is most professional and presents an outstanding image of Millsaps. Keep up the good work.
