Lewis Named Vice
President for Institutional Advancement Dr. Charles R. Lewis has been named Millsaps Vice President of Institutional Advancement. Lewis will supervise the offices of communications, alumni relations, and development. A graduate of Florida State University and Samford University, Lewis formerly served as Assistant Dean for Development at the Florida State University College of Business, where he coordinated the university capital campaign for the College and supervised the major gifts program. Charles Lewis is a proven leader both as a major gifts officer at a state university and as a former faculty member at a liberal arts college, states Millsaps President Frances Lucas-Tauchar. He brings a wealth of knowledge to Millsaps, and we look forward to working with him to advance the College. This is a great time for Millsaps, says Lewis. We have a new president and a new vision, and my job will be to help find the support to make that vision a reality. Millsaps has a rich heritage and a bright future, and the new Office of Institutional Advancement will concentrate on communicating the story of the College to our constituents. Lewis believes that working as a development officer in the south has certain advantages, noting that the rate of charitable giving in Mississippi is one of the highest in the nation. I think the tradition of giving in the south is partly due to the sense of community one finds here, Lewis said. And I find that sense of community evident everywhere at Millsaps. Theres a wonderful depth of discourse thriving on campus. Lewis now resides in Madison with his wife Jane and children Sarah Bryan, Hardage and Charlie. PREVIOUS PAGE | PAGE 1 OF 1 | NEXT PAGE |
