Technology Task Force Addresses Future Needs

After being commissioned by President Harmon at the Fall Faculty Conference, the Technology Task Force has taken significant steps toward helping Millsaps better harness the power of current and future technology.
The Task Force has been divided into four sub-teams that will focus on: (1) current standard technology, operating systems, planning and replacement issues, (2) training and technological support, (3) access to technology, and (4) information technology as an integrated part of the academic process.
Hugh Parker, Dean of the Else School, serves as chair of the task force.  From the start, Parker has been passionate about ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to participate in this vital process.
"We cannot underestimate the long-term impact that these recommendations and future actions will have on the college," Parker states. "Something this important demands that we attempt to involve every member of the Millsaps community."
The task force has received input from more than 20 campus constituencies thus far, and it sponsored "town hall" meetings on November 18 and 20.  The task force will continue to gather information and opinions as it moves toward making its official recommendations.
